C.H.A.M.P. Program

Champion Catering is more than your average caterer!

C.H.A.M.P. (Culinary, Hospitality, Administration, Management, Program)

Champion Catering is an extension of a program named C.H.A.M.P. from our non profit organization titled Paving Great Futures ( 501(c)3  #  46-3297281). All proceeds gained from Champion Catering are used to sustain C.H.A.M.P.

Our program trains and mentors at-risk individuals who are striving to improve their lives. Using the culinary industry as the tool in which to bring about this change. C.H.A.M.P. mentees have been taught and trained by industry officials since 2013.

C.H.A.M.P. is a 9-month training program for high need individuals in San Diego. Upon completion of the program, participants receive their Food Safety Manager Certification (FSN CERT) and Food Handler Card through the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health – Food and Housing Division. Participants are primarily trained for management in the foodservice industry, however, participants will also be exposed to the tools and provided resources to manage their own foodservice or hospitality business. These tools include learning culinary skills, operating a mobile food service business, and managing human resources.

In addition to culinary skills all of our participants are trained in the five core competencies of Paving Great Futures.

Financial literacy, Job readiness, Responsible life skills, Entrepreneurship, Job training
